| SORRY PIKAJ! GOMENASAI!!
That is me.. fat faced.. and VERY sorry :'( ..forgive me? you're so not-cute, not-cool, not-nice and not-intelligent... but you're SO VERY forgiving. RIGHT?!
| So, more on the previous 10 days! 2 Friday ago, the girls G and SK had a table booked at the all-you-can-eat korean BBQ place on Gouger since we wanted to have a longgggg dinner of food and chatter to celebrate the end of my placements!
The food was just okay, well, partially cause it's dependent on how well we cook them and I think I'm a terrible korean BBQ-er. But it's still a fun fun night and we probably popped plenty of jellies and watermelons and oranges after the meal too, so all in all, it was a full 4-5 hours of intense stuff-food-in-your-face experience. We're truly asians, not wanting to lose out in an all-you-can-eat frenzy so we had to leave, feeling like we'd stay full for the rest of the year! Typical
...can't take much photos, not for an all-you-can-eat session, cause I'm too tired after the extra long last day at placement and that I'm too happy and was caught up with the thought of eating as much as I wanted to.

Then, saturday came...there was supposed to be badminton.. but I wasn't sure if we went. I supposed we did, just for a while. I vaguely remembered that I left early to head to shower cause I was going somewhere that night..
Anyway, the next morning, I dragged G along to my brunch meet up with D. He's been calling me so often to set up a day to meet up and since I was on a happy trippy mood post-placement, I set the day on Sunday. We headed to my favourite breakfast spot in town, East Terrace Continental!
G and I were a lil bit ahead of schedule so we checked out the stores of the Sunday Market on Rundle St.. unsurprisingly, the food stores caught our eyes. We found this cute yet refreshing combination of mini pancakes served with cinammon sugar, sour cream and lemon wedges. What a treat! So we got ourselves some 'Poffertjes' to share! I LOVE IT INDEED! Such a comfort food for a rainy Sunday morning!
Then, it's soon time to head to ETC. I absolutely love and will no doubt have the Haloumi salad anytime again! The cheese and generous helping of rockets and tomatoes with olive oil and balsamic on warm bruschetta!! I have grown more and more in love with rockets since my stay here... I think their distinct taste is the key here. I love rockets with pear and walnut salads too! Ooo.. drool drool
As I expected, G went straight for the ETC Chill Bar which I had in my 1st visit. And since this was her 1st time here... I'd like to think we with our great minds, think alike, in terms of selecting our food. Hah!
My my..what a way to start a lazy Sunday. We later went home and finish watching the rest of "Fringe", this new series we've been addicted to. Also, not forgetting, we later manage to finish 2 other HK series that has been on/off for a while now and so, last week was dubbed, the finale of all series left hanging.

Well, the weekend passed, and then its Honours project time. I was uncertain at first, cause its sooo terrible having to travel 45 minutes by bus to MawsonLakes just to get to work DAILY. But now into my 2nd week there, I'm quite used to the travelling... listening to good o'music once again. Reminded me of my days living in MawsonLakes where I travel to town daily just to get to school and uni later on. Ahh, just the opposite direction right now... why did I ever move if I knew it'd come down to this??
But then again, I love living out by myself now.. so much more independence and freedom in life choices
On Tuesday, me, J, HW and JT went for a movie at Hoyts! Angels and Demons. Truly like I've expected.. quite thrilling and exciting indeed. Isn't it nice to have puzzles around to solve .. nothing like a lil puzzle to make life interesting huh!?!
A and T came to pick me up afterwards for a lil family time... surprised me at JT's place where we headed to after the movie since the cinema's just 5 mins walk away from his place.
Me, A and T then headed to Spats on King William Rd. Those who doesn't know Spats is that it is one of the very few popularly known late-night spot for snacks and desserts around Adelaide city.
I had a banana crunch while T had a pineapple crunch. While, being undecisive of which to have, I helped T have both by getting a Strawberry waffle for myself while she orders a Strawberry crepe. A settles with his Brandy Snap Basket which he craved and a warm coffee to go with it. A claims its his habit now.. night coffee...strictly, instead of daytime coffee!
From this view, it almost looked like the brandy snap basket's all about strawberry and cream The soft and chewy crepe. Wish there were more strawberries cause the crepe did looked a lil bit flat. Warm waffles! Yumm, wish I had a waffle machine at home!!

Then, on that Friday, I managed to persuade G to come to MawsonLakes for lunch as it's her day off and she needed to focus on revising for her test which is on the next Friday (tomorrow). So, we went to the yet-to-try Sri-Lankan cuisine place. I'm a bit sussed.. about how they could easily make the things on the menu from cheat-sauces you can get from the supermarkets. But ohhh well.
It's not bad.. but I feel cheated since they claimed that their Chilli Squid's spicy but all I taste is the tomatoey paste to it.
G played safe and ordered a hard-to-go-wrong lamb *something* which she's forgotten herself. I with the better memory when it comes to food.. knows that it's Lamb Korma.
Well, truth be said, although it's not bad, I might only return to it once more.. possibly next month. C told me their Spicy Chicken Parottha's pretty good so I might just give it another try. Just disappointing how I anticipated something so spicy it bites your tongue and got this tomato squid instead. Chilli... blah Also, they claimed to serve it with dahl, and all I saw was this chickpea in a mild sauce... I miss the real thick dahl you find in M'sia!!! ***
Finally, I'm up to date with my post. The last of the photographs I managed to remember to take was the brunch at Maple House, from Saturday. This time, me and G brought SK along as she's never been there. My, WHAT A FEAST! Yumcha.. will always be my favourite favourite thing to do for breakfast!! We had about... 13-14 dishes between us 3 and we had a big bowl of duck noodles too! and at least 2 servings of different "pao" !! yummmmm
...those were only part of what was on the table I think. And if you think I got bored and sick of all those dumplings and pao's... you're quite wrong. I even bought mantao for breakfast the next day Sunday. After the full brunch on saturday, me and G had to rush back to town for the badminton competition which we organised (we're the supposed Events Organisers of the uni's badminton club). It went pretty well... despite the panic initially since we were running behind our schedule and I thought we were not going as plan. But it was just a scare.. things flowed on pretty well after the first round of games... and I think I might just agree if they were to ask us to plan another competition next semester. MAYBE... MAYBE off to bed now! Early day tomorrow!
| Remember these times?
...this was just 2 months ago where everything is so much more different compared to my scenario right now. No more exams, just honours research. Although I have to work myself off at a 9-5 schedule 5 days a week.. I think the lack of exams meant stress-free periods at months like June and July where exams are usually my source of worries.

Now, back to where I left off, PikaJ and Michi have came up to me asking of where I went with my blog.. well, to eat more! ..and forgot to update! Well, I don't exactly report all that I've had. I even forget to take photos of some nice places I've been to, or new food I've managed to sample. But I'll just put some random pieces together and try to recall~! ^^
They actually have a selection of tapas but we didn't want to dine too long so we went for the mains and desserts straight away. The selection we made were pretty good so I'm actually looking forward to our next visit if time permits. I enjoyed the braised rabbit leg, guanciale, tomato, chorizo, potato puree and raddichio dish very much. It may look a lil bit odd in my photos, but that's cause when I was actually hungry upon stepping into the shop so when the food arrived, I headed straight into it and only realised minutes after~! G said her lamb shank with lemon, port, sage, potato puree and parsley was quite good too but I think she felt that she could've had twice the amount being the lamb lover she is. We shared my favourite salad of rockets, accompanied with green bean and parmesan. For desserts, we had one each, off the tapas section. G went straight for the spanish donuts: Churros without any hesitation. Maybe its due to the craving for Chocolate dipping sauce that comes with it.. mmmmm indeed ^^ While me, I was head over heels in with dessert: my panna cotta with coffee cous cous and some suspected crumbed toffee bits within. I heard from J later after her separate visit that the tapas are quite impressive especially their Duck doughnut with porcini salt. I've only ever had tapas once, at Mesa Lunga on Gouger 2 years back so I can't judge which is my favourite tapas spot. So maybe one day, I'd come back again for their tapas! One thing's for sure. I saw their breakfast menu when checking out their menu on their homepage. I WILL DEFINITELY PAY THEM A VISIT FOR BREAKFAST!! oo, corn cakes!! banana souffle pancakes, and even a selection of Smoked fish! ...I like~! Anyway, after dinner, we went to meet SK at Gouger after MC's birthday dinner. We hopped to Sugarbowl once again (2nd time in that month) to indulge in some Fried Milk which I've ALWAYS WANTED TO TRY! We also had servings of sweets such as the Black Glutinous Rice on 豆(腐)花 Me and G were told that Sugarbowl had improved their sweets.. and 杨枝金露 was one of them. This is pronounced as "yong ji gam lou" in cantonese, where in HongKong, this is quite a common dessert made up of Pomelo and Sago in mango puree/juice with extra mango flesh if they're generous enough. The ingredients were the main attraction for me. Makes me think of home, land of pomelo and mango all around! *** In the 2nd week of placements, me, G and her 2 highschool friends from OLSH M and A went on a girly food trip. Dinner at Matsuri's on Gouger. There, I had my on-and-off-again craving satisfied for Okonomiyaki! ..except.. where's the Katsuobushi??? G and M each ordered a serving of tempura basket and rice... which is super good. Yet another favourite of mine! A got a sushi boat for herself.. so good isn't it?!! I should've had that too! But I had the sashimi main with rice on top of my okonomiyaki.. cause I haven't had any since I can't remember when! Poooooor me Love the scallops though.. SO DELICIOUSLY SWEET! We washed dinner down with some sake, much needed with raw food on the plate~! We were too full to have anything else. But, I wish I had more space to stomach my other favourite, Unagi!!! *** A couple of days later, G and I had guests over. My darlings T and SK! I made herbed scones for the fun of it and the fusion seaweed and cucumber salad to refresh the palate from the hot homemade garlic bread and lamb chops. Mmmm.. which reminds me, we've been on this lamb chops frenzy lately.. possibly.. a few times last month while on placement period. Maybe because I always venture into the supermarket across from my pharmacy and find the lambchops sitting in their packets calling out to me! (G was partially the reason too, again, she's a BIG lamb lover! ) But fear not, the last round of lambchops I bought finally got demolished last night, at dinner. So we won't be having any for some time now...now that I'm in MawsonLakes 9-5 , 5 days a week with no grocery shopping possibilities except the weekend Central Market spree!

| I was thinking about this quote I've heard long time ago from the series which I have really grown to love all through its broadcast years and still loving it... I've loved it eversince.
At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are
running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through
the day. Others are just not facing the truth. Some are evil men, at
war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion
people in the world, six billion souls. And sometimes…all you need is one.
